I love this set of Life Archive Photos, posted by Miss Moss and originally published under the title "A Japanese Love Story" by photographer John Dominis (who photographed the iconic Black power salute at the 1968 Olympics). It would be amazing if Life offered the original articles or synopsis for their archive photographs, but unfortunately all we have to go off of here is that Dominis followed a few young couples around their daily courting routines in Japan.
Her (Miss Moss') post included this heart-wrenching poem by 8th century poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro:
" I sit at home
In our room
By our bed
Gazing at your pillow. "
