The Mirror.

"Mademoiselle 1949 "Holiday"

"I desperate young wife is ordered by her doctor to get out of the house at least one day a week.  She goes shopping, tries on dresses, looks in the mirror wondering which one her husband Sam will like.   Always Sam, like a Greek chorus in the back of her head, as if she herself hadn't a definiteness, a clarity that was undisputedly hers.  Suddenly she couldn't make the difference between pleated and gourd skirts of sufficient importance to fix her decision.  She looked at her self in the full length glass, tall, getting thicker around the hips, the lines of her face beginning to slip, she was 29, but she felt middle aged, as if a great many years had passed and there wasn't very much yet to come. This Cosmic Dance.

So much has happened since my last post, I have no idea where to start... except maybe at the end... the most recent work in my life, and some of my most exciting yet, a series called 'This Cosmic Dance' for Panda Head Newsletter, edited by the charming Morgan H. West.  I adored experimenting with my new projector, placing the many watercolor cosmos paintings I've been doing lately over some dreamy friend models in Washington, DC.  Leah Osnos, Melanie Blankenship, and Oluwatoyin Pyne swayed and played in my dark little studio space within my basement apartment, in front that brightly lit wall.  Slow blurs and deep tones set the ambiance, sheer scarves and bright jewels turned magic in the light. I can't wait to do more.
